Last Words

"Tell my family and friends I love them, tell the governor he just lost my vote. Y'all hurry this along, I'm dying to get out of here."

- Christopher Scott Emmett

Emmett (9171-2008) was executed by lethal injection in 2008.

Emmett and one John Fenton Langley were sharing a room in a Danville motel in April of 2001 as part of an out-of-town roofing crew. On the night Langley was killed, he bought food and grilled for Emmett and other co-workers. They then played cards at the motel. Later Langley was killed as he slept. In a taped confession to police, Emmett admitted striking Langley in the head with a lamp in the motel room they were sharing and robbing him of $100 to buy crack cocaine. After smoking the crack cocaine he had bought he called the police to report that something had happened to his roommate.
